Public Transportation Dispatcher

Pay Range: $33.00-$35.00

Primary Job Functions:

• Works directly with drivers to provide quality customer transportation services.

• Oversees road service by tracking trip details, ensuring routes begin on time, tracking performance, and reporting incidents and accidents efficiently and thoroughly.

• Oversees driver sign in and sign out procedures, and keeps manager informed of attendance issues.

• Handles emergency situations for drivers and acts as liaison between the driver and emergency services.

• Monitors daily service by reviewing route performance and proactively responding to situations that impact customer service.

• Documents and reports disciplinary issues to manager.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• 1 - 3 years public transportation experience required.

• Safe driving record.

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Commercial Driver License with passenger and airbrake endorsements required or the ability to obtain such within 30 days of hire.

Skills and Knowledge and Abilities:

• Effective verbal and written communication; must be able to read and comprehend all policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

• Knowledge and ability to safely carry out all policies and procedures applicable to job function and duties.

• Must learn, retain, and be able to communicate complete knowledge of the transit system routes, schedules, and service areas.

• Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

• Able to use or operate vehicle controls including steering wheel, brake, throttle, mirrors, radio, lifts/ramps (manually as necessary), mobility device securement systems, fire extinguisher, and other equipment related to assigned duties.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening.

• Must be able to pass an employment DOT physical examination.

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, driving, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, twisting, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Exposures include sun, heat, cold, rain, wind, water, fumes, and chemicals.
