The Maintenance trainer will perform professional and administrative work training the maintenance staff. Additionally, the maintenance trainer will assist in the diagnosis of vehicles that present elusive or extreme problems. The maintenance trainer will also develop training material and ensure that the department has the latest in diagnosing software and tools. This position reports directly to the Director of Maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay current on all maintenance diagnosing tools and software.

  • Establish a Quality Assurance Program in accordance the Maintenance Manual

  • Remain technically competent on current equipment, as well as industry trends, methods, and technologies.

  • Monitor productivity, fleet reliability and performance.

  • Monitor preventive maintenance schedules and ensure 100% compliance.

  • Analyze road call and defect reports for timely response.

  • Track failure trends and repeat problem vehicles.

  • Develop training programs to address any negative maintenance trends.

  • Monitor technicians’ work performance and productivity to determine training requirements.

  • Prepare monthly maintenance reports, correspondence, and documents for the maintenance manager to address any trends or additional training needed.

  • Keep maintenance areas safe, clean and organized, and ensure use of appropriate safety/personal protection equipment.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred but a combination of education and work experience may be considered.

  • 3 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of automotive and transit equipment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of and alternate fuel engines and/or internal combustion engines, automatic transmissions, airbrakes, steering and drivelines.

  • Possess an understanding of the theory of electricity and also be able to read and understand wiring diagrams.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to work with Word and Excel.

  • Able to obtain ASE Master certifications required.

  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers’ License with a passenger endorsement.

  • Prior experience with computerized diagnostic equipment.

  • Must be able to pass a physical examination and a drug test.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

  • Must complete and sign the Transdev employment application in its entirety.

  • Must be able to lift or handle up to 100 pounds (i.e., strapping in passengers and the loading and unloading passengers, etc.).

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.

  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations and noise.

  • Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
