Responsibilities:
Monitors radio channels and responds to Operator needs
Monitors system operations including time schedules, route problems, passenger transfers and other system related issues
Monitors operator performance and policy adherence; occasionally transports passengers; researches route deviations and determines detours as necessary
Consults and coordinates with fellow supervisors, radio/dispatch, Operators, customers and any other necessary party regarding route and/or schedule variance
Performs investigations of customer comments and complaints with Operators involved in incidents which may include observing the complaint scene, the coach and other relevant factors
Assists customers with routing problems, operational disruptions, or any other assistance as necessary to provide safe and courteous operation of Metropolitan Transit System
Responds to the scene of system accidents/incidents when needed; investigates system related accident/incident using various tools such as interviews with the operators, passengers and witnesses, taking photographs and communicating with authorities as needed
Performs minor cleanup on coaches while in services and removes disruptive passengers to protect the safety of the operator and passengers
Completes accident/incident reports
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
A minimum of 6 (six) months supervisory or lead role experience required. Transportation experience preferred
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a California Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with Passenger Endorsement
Must be physically and technically able to perform minor maintenance on coaches
Must have the ability to obtain knowledge of San Diego County and vicinity.
Must be computer literate on word processing for report writing
Must have the ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, especially in difficult and possible hostile situations
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination including a drug test

Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as walking, standing, and handling materials.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented field environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, to kneel/bend, and to move throughout the workday,
Strong sensory skills, such as good hearing, dexterity, and good eyesight.
Ability to speak clearly.
Ability to lift and/or carry 50 lbs.
Must be able to operate both Commercial and Non-Commercial vehicles
Experience preferred:
Relevant experience in the transit industry, with dispatch office, two-way radio and/or Road Supervisor experience is preferred.
Relevant computer-based data analysis and entry, supervision of others within in a collective bargaining environment
Must have a good Customer Service record- Internal
Must have less than 2 UAs- Internal
Must have an excellent safety record (no more than 1 accident)- Internal
